Boxes of Love 2020

UPDATE: The recent bitterly cold weather that settled in has sparked a special appeal from the local area to assist those that are homeless with donations of warm clothing. WPTZ channel five reached out to viewers to ask for donations. Today, Michelle LaCroix dropped off a number of winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves along with many pairs of socks at Feeding Chittenden, in Burlington. Delivery is still planned for the Market Place area tomorrow, Saturday, January 18th

========

This year’s Boxes of Love program will kick off on January 18th, 2020 on the Church Street Marketplace, in Burlington. In years past the efforts of Michelle LaCroix, a group of her girlfriends and members and their spouses of Council 279 have helped to provide 50 backpacks full of many necessities that we often take for granted. This program has had a wonderfully positive impact on the lives of many of the less fortunate. It’s that time again, for our 2020 campaign.

As you know, there are needy families and individuals in our community that go without proper food, shelter, and the essential medical care every day due to a variety of factors, including low wages, job loss, injuries, illness, age, domestic violence, and divorce. While all of us are susceptible to hard times, young adults, veterans, and the elderly are at the most at risk, and they make up the largest number of people, we see during our Miracle on Church St. journey.  In this venture we are amazed of how many pets are affected by hunger, and homelessness along with their caretakers. This year, we want to try to take care of our furry friends too, to make a difference in their life and to help their owners

With the generous support of people like our council members, and their extended families we can help many of these individuals meet essential daily needs. Again, this year 50 backpacks will be made and we with your help will be able to provide the backpacks to those that are less privileged, making their day just a little brighter.
